PROJECT DESCRIPTION – English

Anna-Maria Hefele is a musical phenomenon. She moves between diverse vocal techniques – from classical to polyphonic overtone singing – and accompanies herself perfectly with unusual instruments such as harp and the swedish nyckelharpa trance-like as a matter of course. She presents her vocal versatility in a solo programme which would overtax most singers: scandinavian and italian 16th century folklore, music from Brian Eno and her own compositions appear as from a single mould and lead the audience with a hypnotic pull. Anna-Maria Hefele enables emotional participation ethereally and pervasively, allowing space for one’s own dreamworld.

Anna-Maria Hefele – holding a master of arts (MA) from Mozarteum Salzburg – is a multiinstrumentalist, singer and overtone singer; performing worldwide as soloist with different ensembles, choirs and orchestras as well as with her soloproject. Her YouTube video „polyphonic overtone singing“ became viral and has resulted in more than 19 million views so far, followed by regular appearances of Anna-Maria in various international television shows and radio broadcasts. „A voice as from another world“, „the lady with the two voices“, „polyphonic vocalist does the impossible“ – these and other headlines have spread across the world.

PROJEKTBESCHREIBUNG – Deutsch

Anna-Maria Hefele ist ein musikalisches Phänomen. Mit traumwandlerischer Selbstverständlichkeit bewegt sie sich durch verschiedenste Stimmtechniken – von Klassik bis polyphonem Obertongesang – und begleitet sich dabei virtuos auf ungewohntem Instrumentarium, wie der Harfe und der schwedischen Nyckelharpa. Ihre stimmliche Wandlungsfähigkeit präsentiert sie in einem Soloprogramm, welches die meisten Sängerinnen überfordern würde: skandinavische und italienische Folklore des 16. Jahrhunderts, alpenländische und Wiener Volkslieder, Musik von Brian Eno bis hin zu Eigenkompositionen erscheinen wie aus einem Guss und ziehen das Publikum in einen hypnotischen Sog. Ätherisch und durchdringend ermöglicht Anna-Maria Hefele emotionale Partizipation und lässt Raum für eigene Traumwelten.
